Implementation of nature conservation research on the wind test field in the country

The aim of the project is to use the wind energy test field both for development and testing of preventive measures for birds and bats and to close gaps in the knowledge about the behaviour of animals towards wind energy plants.

Corresponding research concepts that use the special conditions of the test field (two research wind turbines, four wind measuring masts of the same height in front of and behind the systems, comprehensive measuring equipment) were developed as part of the previous project (NatForWINSENT) and coordinated with relevant experts. Essential components of these concepts are now to be implemented as part of the project.

The special focus here is on measures to protect birds of prey sensitive to wind energy, for which the use of wind energy is a potential hazard. This applies, for example, to the red kite, which also occurs in the study area.
