The Health & Life Sciences University UMIT offers a wide range of high-quality master study programmes. These studies are designed in such a way that they can be attended parallel to work by health professionals who already work in the sectors of health care and health economics and who want to further develop their scientific and professional skills.
 
Health Sciences
The study programme in Health Sciences examines all aspects of the health care sector. Excellently trained experts in the fields of medicine, nursing and management will be trained to become all-rounders in health care. Theoretical, technical and practical knowledge which the graduates acquire helps them perform complex professional tasks in the health care sector. These skills of problem solving enhance career opportunities and allow for completely new career paths.
 
Nursing Science
The master study programme in Nursing Science offered at UMIT is the first study course implemented at an Austrian university that considerably contributes to the quality improvement in day-to-day nursing care. Thus, UMIT is Austria’s first university to react on the claim that has been made by politicians, nursing associations and administrative hospital bodies over years. The practice-oriented scientific activities within the Nursing Science study programme allow for the graduates be highly accepted and acknowledged among health care professionals.
 
Psychology
Master programs in Psychology qualify graduates for occupations in psychology and related areas. They include scientific as well practical training.
 
Mechatronics
Joint Study Programme of the University of Innsbruck and the UMIT - The Health & Life Sciences University
A central element of the Master’s Degree Programme of Mechatronics is its focus on sustainability and relevance of knowledge and skills. This is why the imparting of knowledge and competences of scientific methods is given priority to specialist user knowledge. Graduates have the competence to further develop their knowledge and understanding in the field of mechatronics autonomously, also for new and unfamiliar problems or within the scope of research contexts resp. They are especially qualified for demanding tasks in industry and business enterprises in the different fields of mechatronics and the related fields of mechanical engineering, material science, electronic science, medical engineering etc. after brief training periods. There, the advantages of the university education’s focus on basic and methodological competence take effect.
 
Biomedical Informatics (discontinued)
UMIT students have the opportunity to immerse themselves in the exciting world of IT applications and developments of large-scale health companies within the framework of the master study programme in Biomedical Informatics. They get familiar with methods and tools of applied informatics / information technology in the fields of health, biotechnology and pharmacy and will later play a leading role as IT experts in the medical progress and in the health care provision.
